Default What to buy to replace gold?

Lets say you have 1.4 million gold and you want to hold more. What would you buy to replace the gold? I used to think ectos would be good but now their price fluctuates too much. So what would be something that will stack in storage, cost a good amount, and has a steady price?
BTW, I don't have 1.4 million, I'm just wondering.

Me, personally, I'd buy a lot of dwarven ale. C'mon, ever seen anyone with a storage full of ale?

Ok ok, back to the question... most people go for ecto. You don't wanna. Hmm. Other materials?

With the extreme price fluctuations in most materials lately, I can suggest to you Obsidian Shards, the most expensive, least changing material. You can also try for Black Dye, also, for the most part, very unchanging.

hmm, ive seen shards at trader anywhere from 3.4k - 4.7k.

While the amounts themselves are lower than say, ecto or black dye, the price fluctuates quite a bit.

If you had a full stack of 250 shards @ 3.4k = 850,000g
250 shards @ 4.7k = 1,175,000g
*The Difference is 325,000g, as a whole. Consider that these prices may be inclusive within a week's or even a day's fluctuation.

With Black Dye, I've seen prices at trader from 7k - 9.5k

If you had a full stack of 250 black dye @ 7k = 1,750,000g
250 black dye @ 9.5k = 2,375,000g
*The difference is 625,000g

Just something to consider when weighing what avenue to take when storing gold over 1.4mil.

Black Dye is cheaper during the week but goes up towards Friday - Sundy that starts to dip a bit from what I noticed.

Buy a little of everything (ecto/shard/ruby/sapphire/monstrous/black dye).
Diversify your portfolio.

I wouldn't go for ectos or black dye, as ectos prices are dropping, and black dye is being bought more and more from other players rather than the trader, making the price drop.

As with everything, you cannot directly sell for more than what you had paid. If you are trying to stay even, just purchase a couple very high end weapons(crystalline sword, etc.) The price on these never seems to go down.

So....what should i buy? Currently can hold no more gold in storage, but ectos are too unreliable. I have 167 ectos as of today, farmed most of them but bought some anywhere from 8-13k. If they are each worth 11k, thats another million gold and change, but down too 6.5 (Feb 1st i think) its half that. I personally am gonna start buying Upgrades and Weapons. +30 sword/axe/bow upgrades and 10/10 stuff should be used consistently throughout GW. I wont make any money (like I hoped on ectos) but i shouldnt loose much either. Even with the addition of green items, perfect upgrades are still relatively priced as they always have been. My 2 cents, or whatever.

Fill up all your weapon slots with greens...XD

I'd go for the ale though, and spend plenty of time experimenting with dye mixtures.

Might be a safe investment, but they don't stack in inventory.

For serious. And if they all have money, recruit new ones.

I agree. There will always be more warriors than any other class, and they will always pay out the nose for the superior absportion.

Even though they don't stack, a full inventory = 2 million more of value.

Deldrimor Steel is also a pretty safe investment.

Deld steel, from my observations fluctuate from 700-850g.

My advice would be to find the materials or items with the least % of price fluctuations, and move forward with those.
